Dear Senator Murray,
My name is Allan Hill and I am a member of Olympia Indivisible. Speaker Pelosi recently described a “constitutional crisis” and House Judiciary Chair Nadler described the current stalemate with the Trump administration as “preposterous.” I agree!
I believe that the time has come for the House to begin impeachment proceedings against Trump, as well as Attorney General Barr who has lied to protect him. House oversight is not working, Trump has stonewalled every effort. He is becoming ever more dangerous; his administration seems to be ready to start wars in Iran and Venezuela to deflect attention from his legal troubles. Trump is starting to talk as if he is an Imperial President, openly considering claims that he should be able to serve an extra two years. Impeachment now seems to be the only real opportunity to block this slide into autocracy and warmongering. I urge you, Senator Murray to publicly call for impeachment proceedings against Trump and some of the most corrupt members of his administration.
“Saving our democracy” is feeble language about knowing how to kowtow to the weak-kneed leadership of the DNC, what it is about is precedent. The Mueller report has demonstrated the path that any logically-minded person can see. This is not about politics as it is about precedent. so I ask you why is the office of the presidency given a ‘Get out of Jail Free card’?
We have anti-corruption laws in our nation. Would it be possible for me to commit a crime covered under Article 1, Section 9. Clause 8 of the United States Constitution? So, why does the so-called president get an honorary ‘Get out of Jail Free card and other United States citizens do not? Does not the laws of our nation apply to all Americans? “No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the consent of Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever from any King, Prince, or foreign state.”
“US Constitution Annotated Article I. LEGISLATIVE DEPARTMENT Section IX Clause VIII”
Someone who also works inside ‘the beltway’ also is concerned with this matter and he, knowing so much more than I wrote: “The conclusion that Congress may apply the obstruction laws to the President’s corrupt exercise of the powers of office accords with our constitutional system of checks and balances and the principle that no person is above the law.” This passage may sound very familiar as it was penned by Special Council Honorable Robert Mueller.
